What you’ll tackle
- Diagnose and repair medium/heavy vehicles across major systems: steering, electrical, cooling, lubrication, braking, driveline, suspension, power steering, clutches, transmissions, fuel and emissions controls, and engines (including adjustments, testing, rebuilds).
- Road-test completed work to confirm the original issue is resolved.
- Coordinate required inspections and obtain approval for all major repairs before releasing vehicles from the shop.
- Keep your bay safe, clean, and efficient, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local standards.
- Flag additional corrective or preventive work discovered during service, including items requiring a higher-qualification technician.
- Document labor time, parts usage, and all work performed with accuracy and clarity.
- Respond to road calls and perform on-site repairs when assigned.
- Alert the Lead Technician to unsafe maintenance conditions, practices, or signs of vehicle abuse.
- 4–5 years of hands-on fleet mechanic experience with medium/heavy trucks.
- Strong diagnostic capability, including electrical systems and automotive A/C.
- Deep understanding of core vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
- Background in fleet maintenance, comfortable with both diesel and gasoline platforms.
- Personal hand tools meeting the recommended minimum for a Diesel Technician.
- Sound judgment and decisive problem-solving skills.
- Valid state driver’s license; CDL preferred.
- ASE certifications are a plus (not required).
